This is Vasili Alexandrovich Arkhipov. You probably don’t know who he is. Chances are though, you are alive right now because of him.
During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he prevented the launch of a nuclear torpedo and therefore a possible nuclear war.
Long story short, the Americans were doing practice runs with their nuclear subs. Vasili was inside a Russian nuclear sub. The other people in his sub assumed that the Americans were trying to attack them. They didn’t know the Americans were just doing a practice procedure.
The Russians were about to fire a torpedo at the American sub, until Vasili convinced his commanding officers not to fire as he wasn’t certain that the Americans were attacking them.
This stopped the Russians from attacking the Americans, which then stopped a nuclear war.
No one has really heard of this man, but i think he deserves a lot more recognition for his actions.

When ever a lice ridden cousin marrying Redneck accuses Obama of being a Muslim, people are quick to jump to Obama’s defense, stating that he is not in fact Islamic. This is all well and good, but has anyone wondered, why the fuck would it even matter if he was a Muslim or not?

There is a Australian Facebook page which goes by the title “Shit Everyone Hates”. Essentially it posts status’ about things no one likes. Normally they post unoriginal things like “Mondays”.
However, last night they posted, Asylum Seekers. Essentially Asylum Seekers are people who come to another country (in this case Australia) and seek refuge because they are fleeing their own war torn country. Australia gets a lot of Arab Asylum Seekers.
Us Aussies like to think we are not racist. However, upon seeing the page’s post and the comments from other Aussies, really makes you wonder how accepting Australia is.
I encourage everyone to share this image or re blog it and to then message the people at Shit Everyone Hates and explain to them how idiotic and racist they really are.
